- Your technical adviser is most likely wrong. While I have used a V.34
- modem on a 16450 (no deep buffering) successfully in a non-Windows
- non-multitasking environment, I did experience some dropped characters
- (quite a few) and some serial port overruns. I also had to limit the port
- speed to 57600 and could not easily transfer highly compressible files
- without a lot of errors.
